Toy Safety, Mouthing & Sensory Guidance

At Stimz, safety matters to us deeply. We know that some children and adults mouth or chew items beyond the toddler stage, especially where sensory regulation, comfort, habit or oral sensory seeking are involved. This page is here to offer simple, practical guidance for parents, carers and professionals.

Our products follow the relevant safety and age guidance for their category, but no general age label can fully account for every individual child's behaviour. If a child is likely to mouth, chew, bite, pull or pick at an item, that should always be taken into account when choosing products.

Important to know

Many sensory and fidget items are designed for hand use, not oral use.
A product being suitable for a certain age group does not mean it is suitable for mouthing.
If an item shows any wear, damage, splitting, cracking or loosening parts, stop use straight away.
If oral sensory input is needed, a product specifically designed for chewing is usually the safer option.
Supervision should always be based on the individual user and how they interact with the item.

If a child mouths items

Take extra care with anything small, detachable or likely to wear over time. Check products regularly and choose options that match the child's real behaviour, not just their age.
